What is a release date?

What do we mean by "release date" and what's the point of them?

Updated today

Your release date is the day your release becomes available to stream on all the music platforms and digital stores.

To help you look mega-professional, we make your release go live everywhere at the same time, so your fans can all access it at the same time. This means you can do one announcement to all your loyal listeners, whether they're on Spotify, Deezer, or Grandpad (that's a special iPad for Grandads, google it!)

Having your release date a few weeks in the future helps us ensure your music is eligible for as many platforms as possible, so that's why our standard lead time is a minimum of 14 days.

Why are release dates helpful to me?

Can I release my track tomorrow, today, in about 3 minutes and 10 seconds? Well, no... aside from the actual logistics it takes for us and our distribution partners to get your release ready to go, it's actually in your interest to have some time between you finishing your release and having it drop on streaming platforms:

  • Time to create promotional content for social media

  • Time to do pre-save campaigns on Apple and Spotify, so your music goes straight into fan's libraries on release day, and increases your chances of being picked up by algorithms.

  • Time to build a 'buzz' and get fans excited ahead of your release. You can start work now on getting the hook or catchy melody stuck in their heads

  • Time to submit a track to editorial services like Spotify for Artists, so you can get on their big playlists!
